Workplace Giving FAQ
Q. WHY PARTICIPATE IN WORKPLACE GIVING?

A. For more than a century workplace giving has been a key element of corporate philanthropy, while being one of the least expensive fundraising strategies.  Workplace giving campaigns not only provide a strong and sustainable source of revenue for nonprofits, they also provide a service to potential donors, ensuring quality fiscal responsibility, trust, and ease of giving.

Q. WHY GIVE TO THE WORKPLACE GIVING CAMPAIGN?

A. American Indians continue to be the most in need and least-served population in the United States.  The past two decades have witnessed a great expansion in the number of Native nonprofits serving Indian Country and the critical roles they play in Indian Country. But while they work hard to strengthen, protect, and advocate for Native communities, Native nonprofits are at a distinct disadvantage in today's fundraising environment. Only 1/6 of one percent of national philanthropic dollars goes to Native causes. Therefore, many deserving organizations struggle to find sustainable funding. You can help us fill in the gaps.

Q. HOW TO CHOOSE WHICH ORGANIZATIONS TO DONATE TO THRU WORKPLACE GIVING CAMPAIGN?

A. Please see our members section for an overview of each member organization that you can help via the Native Ways Workplace Giving Campaign. If you want more information on a specific organization, you can also research them visit their website directly.

Q. HOW DOES NATIVE WAYS AFFORD TO OPERATE?

A. Native Ways relies on funds from a variety of sources, including private foundations, federal grants, and direct and indirect donations made through the Native Ways Federation Workplace Giving Campaign.  Maintaining low overhead is an important priority for Native Ways. When a donor gives to a Native Ways member organization other than Native Ways itself, the bulk of the gift is distributed to the member organization.

Q. WHAT IS NATIVE WAYS' ADMINISTRATIVE FEE?

A. Native Ways will never retain more than 16% of workplace donations; and more importantly, as donor participation increases, the portion of each gift that is used for Native Ways operations will go down. When a donor designates the Native Ways Federation as the gift recipient, the full amount of the gift is retained by Native Ways.
